Nevertheless, Chief Justice Roger B. Taneys decision was the one on record with him holding the majority vote against Scott. On the basic issue of Scotts freedom, the Court agreed with the lower courts determination that Scott was neither a citizen of the state or the U.S. nation, and therefore could not bring a suit before a court (We the People 119). The reaction to Taneys ruling was predictable: The South celebrated, praising that the Constitutional guarantees of property (described in the 5th Amendment) were clearly de fined once and for all. No governmental body had the authority to restrict the movement of slaves, who had been declared inviolable property by the highest court of the land (Irons 182). The North condemned the ruling, describing it as a politically motivated act by a Pro-Southern Supreme Court. The Court seemed to ignore that the Constitution also spoke of guarantees to freedom in the same sentence that it guaranteed property in the 5th Amendment (Ward 34). This lead to the even bigger argument on why the North and South had many different views on the issue of slavery. The Dred Scott decision was more than the Northerners could take, so they declared that they would not obey the court. Both joshes use violence and intimidation and emotional manipulation to control people. Josh uses Andrew, he calls him ‘buddy’, and he invites him to things like the party and holidays. Josh puts on a mask on concern and interest for Andrews life; but actually uses him for his own game. In this way Josh is similar to Carl Denham. Bad Josh is significantly more violent. It is through understanding the violence of bad Josh that Andrew begins to take responsibility for his own actions. Andrew starts to plan how he can stop bad Josh from killing many more people when he attacks the inner station. This results in Andrews attempt to kill ‘My Josh’ through drugging his beer/stout. In the first slide topic of presentation is provided as to assess and evaluate communication in one organization. Second slide discusses about the organization Aetna, which is a heath care company and supplies health care products and services. Ron William headed the organization from the year 2006 to 2011 as a CEO. Third slide presents a small introduction of the case study. The case study is focused on the leadership achievements of the CEO Williams. After joining Aetna, he diagnosed failure and opportunities of the organization and implemented some strategic change for improving the situation. Through integrated information channel, William developed an integrated information system for both employees and customers. Explanation of the case study The case study discusses the problem of communication process and leadership within the Aetna Inc., which is a diversified health insurance American Company. CEO William joined the Aetna in the year 2001 and found that the organization has incurred a loss of USD 280 millions in the previous, and requires change. He identified key areas for development and opportunities present within the organization (Goetsch and Davis 2014). William formulated a plan for recovery by strengthening the trust of Aetnas customers ranging from small employers to large organizations. Aetna focused on developing new markets such as retail traders, banking organizations and law firms. To expand its market Aetna focused on providing products and services as per the requirements and demands of the customers (Cornelissen 2014). To achieve this Williams strategy was to develop integrated communication systems for employers as well as customers, to guarantee cost effective and high quality health care delivery system. With the help of effective communication channel William made sure that the new strategy is imbibed in the Aetnas workforce. He stressed on the values of integrity, employee engagement, and high quality healthcare. To measure the effectiveness of his strategy he conducted employee surveys and implemented biannual performance reviews. He opened the channel of bidirectional communication by inviting the employees to answer whether they think that their supervisors are following the values of the organization and have a sense of pride to be working with company. Through these monitoring systems, Williams identified that there is significant improvement in the responses in just few years. The changes in organization strategy, communication channel and benchmarking resulted in overall growth for the organization (Friedrich et al. 2016). From being loss-making company, Aetna gained number one position as the most admired health care company in Fortune Magazine. The case study has further discussed that, in order to support spoken communication within the organization and with the customers; Roy Williams invested a great deal in technology as he believed that role of technology will be crucial in determining the future of health care services. The case study has included the description of Care Engine as described by Williams as a system that contains data regarding individual members personal health record and real time academic journal information and health guidelines that are fed into computer software. This system has the ability to detect and fill gaps in the patient care delivery. With the help of Care Engine - the symptoms that go undetected, tests that should be administered, the medicines that must not be prescribed, and other discrepancies of the health care can be minimized (Low 2012). William also provided the customers with tools to compare costs of medicines, tests and doctors visits. Williams believed the by giving the tools of information and communication in the hands of customers trillions of dollars can be checked in the healthcare sector. Williams believed that health care reform can only be successful if all the individuals can be brought under the umbrella of health care services. This can be achieved by maintaining employer based system, reorienting the system towards prevention, quality and value of care, using incentives based on markets to improve coverage, bringing the cost of healthcare services down and making the system more customer focused (Appelbaum et al. 2016). This case study has discussed broad range of issues in the organizational set up and shows how C.E.O., as a leader can effectively use corporation wide communication system to bring about change and improve performance. Communication can be used as a tool to impart value to the organization and build relationship of transparency with the customers. The case study has explores scope of communication in leadership development by allowing the leaders to manage organization wide communication and improving the effectiveness of the communication channel thereby allowing the message to reach the target audience in undiluted form.
